ORTHOPEDIC SHOCKWAVE THERAPY · RICHMOND, VA

The injury you've been managing for months is actually fixable.

Shockwave therapy works at the tissue level — stimulating real healing in plantar fasciitis, tendinopathy, tennis and golfer's elbow, frozen shoulder, and arthritis that conservative care couldn't finish.

One low-risk session to experience shockwave and assess your response. West End location

SOUND FAMILIAR?
You've done everything right. The injury is still there.

Rest. Ice. Stretching. Maybe a round of PT. Cortisone shots that worked for three weeks and then didn't. You've been responsible about this. You've been patient. And the heel still screams on the first steps out of bed. The achilles still flares the moment you ramp up mileage. The elbow still aches after every set. The shoulder still wakes you up at 3am.

You're not imagining it. You're not just getting older. Most conservative treatments address symptoms or reduce load — they don't stimulate actual tissue repair. When tissue has been under chronic stress long enough, it stops remodeling on its own. That's where you are. And that's exactly where shockwave works.

"I've had this for almost a year. I've tried everything. I read about shockwave and I want to know if it can actually fix this."

If you've done your research and landed here, you already understand the mechanism. You're not asking whether shockwave works — you're deciding whether this is the right place to get it. That's what we're here to answer.

CONDITIONS WE TREAT
We speak your diagnosis.

Shockwave isn't a general wellness treatment. Every session is targeted to the specific tissue that isn't healing.

Plantar Fasciitis

The morning limp. The mid-run flare. The injury that outlasts every treatment you've tried. Shockwave targets the fascial tissue directly — triggering the repair process that chronic inflammation suppresses.

Tendinopathy

Achilles. Patellar. Rotator cuff. Tendinopathies become chronic when tissue stops remodeling. Shockwave restarts that process in a way that rest and load modification never could.

Frozen Shoulder

Stiffness, restricted range, and pain that limits sleep and daily movement. Shockwave targets the capsular and soft tissue restrictions driving the freeze — often accelerating mobility gains alongside PT.

Calcific Deposits

Calcium in the shoulder that "might resorb on its own" — two years later. Shockwave is one of the strongest-studied options for calcific tendinopathy and is worth exploring before surgery.

Arthritis

Not just managing the pain — actually improving the tissue environment. Shockwave can reduce inflammation and support joint health in ways that pain management alone doesn't offer.

Tennis Elbow & Golfer's Elbow:

Lateral and medial epicondylopathy are among the most stubborn tendon conditions to resolve — and among the strongest indications for shockwave. Whether it's your backhand loading the lateral side or your swing torquing the medial, shockwave gets into the tendon at the attachment and stimulates the repair process your body has been unable to restart on its own.

HOW IT WORKS

This isn't pain management. It's healing stimulation.

Shockwave therapy delivers acoustic pressure waves directly into damaged tissue. Those waves trigger a cascade of biological responses that the body stopped generating on its own — which is why you've been stuck.

STEP 1:

1 — Targeted acoustic waves

High-energy pressure waves are delivered precisely to the specific tissue causing your pain — the heel, the achilles insertion, the lateral epicondyle, the rotator cuff — by trained clinical providers.

STEP 2:

2 — Biological repair is restarted

The waves stimulate cellular activity — increasing blood flow, breaking down calcifications, promoting collagen synthesis. The actual repair work the tissue stopped doing.

STEP 3:

3 — Tissue heals. Pain resolves.

goal isn't to quiet down a symptom. It's to create the conditions for the tissue to finish healing — so the problem stops coming back when you return to activity.

WHY RVA HOLISTIC PT
A clinical setting that understands the whole picture.

Trained providers, not a franchise

Our shockwave is delivered by clinical staff in a licensed PT practice — not a pop-up wellness clinic. The training and the equipment are clinical-grade.

Integrated with PT when you need it

For complex or overlapping cases, our orthopedic PTs work alongside shockwave. The two together accelerate outcomes that neither achieves alone.

Root cause first, always

COMMON QUESTIONS

What people ask before they book.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your condition and how long you've been dealing with it. Most orthopedic protocols run 6 sessions for meaningful, lasting tissue change. Chronic or structural conditions — including long-standing frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, or calcific deposits — sometimes need 12. The intro session helps us assess what your tissue needs before you commit to a package.

Is this covered by insurance?

Shockwave therapy is cash pay — it's not typically covered by insurance. What you're paying for is 1:1 care with a trained clinical provider using proper equipment, in a PT practice that understands the full musculoskeletal picture. HSA and FSA are accepted. Compare the investment to ongoing cortisone shots, years of managing a chronic injury, or the cost of surgery — and it reframes quickly.

Is RVA Holistic PT the right place for an orthopedic problem?

We understand why you'd ask — we're best known for pelvic health. But our orthopedic shockwave program runs inside a licensed PT practice with trained clinical staff and proper equipment. The PT integration is actually an advantage over a standalone shockwave clinic: when your condition is complex or overlapping, we can bring the whole clinical picture to bear.

What does shockwave feel like?

There's a strong pulsing sensation during treatment — particularly in areas of active tendinopathy. Most clients describe it as intense but completely tolerable. The intro session is designed in part to let you experience this before committing to a full protocol.

Will one session fix my problem?

No — and we won't tell you otherwise. Shockwave works through a biological healing process that takes time. The intro session shows us how your tissue responds and gives you a clear-eyed sense of the protocol ahead. Anyone who tells you a single session resolves a chronic structural problem isn't being straight with you.

I'm also dealing with erectile dysfunction. Is that something you treat?

Yes — but it's a separate service line with its own protocol, pricing, and intake process. The pelvic floor shockwave program is delivered with the same clinical professionalism, in a discreet and judgment-free setting. Reach out directly and we'll connect you with the right provider.
