You've done your research. You know how shockwave works. This page is about whether RVA Holistic PT is the right place to get it — and we'll be straightforward with you.

IF YOU'VE LANDED HERE
You already know the mechanism. You're deciding whether to call.

Most men who find this page have spent time researching. They've read about how shockwave stimulates vascular tissue repair, why it works differently than medication, and why it's a real option for ED — not a gimmick. They're not looking to be sold on the concept.

What they're weighing is something else: whether this is a legitimate clinical setting, whether the providers know what they're doing, and whether making the call is worth the discomfort of saying it out loud to another person.

Those are fair questions. Here's what we can tell you plainly: this is a licensed PT practice with trained clinical staff, proper equipment, and a team that treats this condition the same way they treat every other — professionally, without judgment, and focused on getting you results.

"I have erectile dysfunction and I want to try shockwave — I want to avoid the injections and I don't want to be on medication forever."

That's the most common thing we hear when someone finally reaches out. If it sounds like you, you're in the right place.

WHAT WE TREAT
Shockwave for pelvic floor health. For men and women.

Erectile Dysfunction — Primary Focus

ED is most often a vascular issue. The tissue that needs to fill with blood to create and sustain an erection loses function over time — due to reduced blood flow, cellular changes, or micro-vascular damage. Medication manages the symptom. Shockwave works at the tissue level, stimulating the repair and regeneration that can restore function more durably.

This is why men who don't want to be on medication indefinitely, or who've tried injections and ruled them out, are researching shockwave as a root-cause option. The clinical evidence supports it. The protocol requires multiple sessions — not one — and results develop over weeks. We'll be straight with you about what to expect before you commit to anything.

Also treated: chronic prostatitis and chronic pelvic pain in men.

Female Sexual Dysfunction & Pelvic Floor Pain

Shockwave is also an option for women dealing with pelvic floor pain, decreased orgasm intensity, or sexual dysfunction that hasn't responded to other treatments. Same clinical-grade technology, same trained providers, same discreet and professional approach.

  • Pelvic floor pain

  •  Sexual dysfunction

  • Diminished orgasm

  • Chronic pelvic pain

  •  Provoked vestibulodynia

HOW IT WORKS
This isn't symptom management. It's tissue-level repair.

The distinction matters. Medication creates a temporary chemical condition that enables function — it doesn't change the underlying tissue. Shockwave sends acoustic pressure waves into the pelvic tissue, triggering a biological response that the body stopped generating on its own.

1  —  Acoustic waves reach the tissue

Focused shockwave is delivered precisely to the targeted pelvic tissue. Non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical, performed by trained clinical staff in a professional setting.

2  —  Vascular repair is stimulated

The waves promote angiogenesis — new blood vessel formation — and stimulate cellular repair in tissue that has lost function. This is the mechanism that oral medication doesn't address.

3  —  Function improves over weeks

Results develop over the course of the protocol and continue after it ends. Most clients begin noticing changes within 3–6 weeks. The full protocol is 6–12 sessions depending on presentation.

WHY RVA HOLISTIC PT
A clinical environment built for straightforward, professional care.

A licensed PT practice — not a men's health franchise

This isn't a pop-up clinic that opened to sell shockwave packages. RVA Holistic PT is a licensed physical therapy practice with trained clinical staff, proper equipment, and an environment where you're treated like any other client with a health concern.

Trained pelvic health providers

Our clinical team specializes in pelvic health — it's not a side service. The providers delivering shockwave understand the anatomy, the physiology, and the full picture of what's affecting function. That's a different level of care than a general wellness clinic offering the same treatment.

Discreet from the first contact

You fill out a contact form, our team reaches out, and you're scheduled without fanfare. The environment once you're in the door is clinical, quiet, and judgment-free. The gap between finding us and calling is the hardest part — once you're in, it's just an appointment.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Answered plainly.

Does shockwave therapy for ED actually work?
There is clinical evidence supporting low-intensity shockwave therapy for vasculogenic ED — the most common form, where reduced blood flow is the underlying cause. Multiple peer-reviewed studies show meaningful improvement in erectile function scores following a full protocol. It's not a guarantee, and it doesn't work for every presentation — which is exactly why the intro session exists: to assess your situation before you commit to anything.

How many sessions will I need?
Most protocols run 6 sessions for a standard presentation. More complex cases — longer duration, vascular comorbidities, or prior treatment history — may benefit from 12. The intro session gives us a clear picture of what your situation calls for before you invest in a package.

Is this covered by insurance?
No — pelvic floor shockwave is cash pay. HSA and FSA are accepted. The cost of ongoing medication adds up quickly; a full shockwave protocol is a one-time investment in underlying tissue health rather than an indefinite management strategy.

Is RVA Holistic PT the right place for this?
We're a pelvic health PT practice — this isn't a side service we added to generate revenue. Our clinical team specializes in pelvic health conditions, including men's pelvic health and sexual dysfunction. The equipment is clinical-grade. The setting is professional and discreet. We treat this condition the way we treat every other: with clinical focus and without judgment.

What's the intake process like?
You fill out a contact form on our site. Our admin team reaches out to schedule your intro session at the West End location. The appointment is handled like any clinical visit — intake, assessment, treatment, and a clear conversation about next steps. Nothing about the process singles you out or draws unnecessary attention.

What does the treatment feel like?
The focused shockwave device delivers a pulsing pressure sensation during treatment. Most clients describe it as neutral and entirely manageable. Sessions are typically 20–30 minutes. The intro session is the right way to experience it firsthand before committing to a full protocol.  We often add class IV laser, if medically indicated, at no additional charge, which is also shown to help with sexual dysfunction, ED and Peyroine's.

I'm a woman dealing with pelvic pain or sexual dysfunction. Is this for me too?
Yes. Shockwave for female sexual dysfunction and pelvic floor pain is offered at the same location, by the same clinical team. Reach out via the contact form and we'll match you with the right provider and discuss what the protocol looks like for your situation.
